Adults – on your first day you just need to bring a notepad to the class. We will give you a pen and anything else you need for the class. Most adult courses finish at 12.45pm on a Monday so you may want to bring your lunch with you to have at the school.
All students take an English test on their first day so we can put you in the correct level class. Adults will then be put directly into the most suitable class. Juniors will do the test first and then have orientation lessons about the school and a class on living in a home stay situation. Junior students will usually have packed lunch at the school and activities in the afternoon. Your home stay provider will usually meet you at the end of the school day.
No, we provide everything you need (except notepaper for the adults). Our courses use different types of materials to give you a varied programme, so we do not ask you to buy a course book in advance. However, if you would like to buy a book for private study, please ask a teacher or in the office for advice on the best book for you.
Adult courses usually start at 9.15am but you should arrive at 9am to give us time to show you around the school. Junior students need to be at school BEFORE 9am as your classes start at 9am. You should be given this information before you arrive in the UK.
No, we do not currently have a cafeteria in the school. We do have a small selection of snacks in the office for students to buy but this does not include lunch options like sandwiches, salads etc. If you are staying with a home stay provider, you should be given a packed lunch to bring to school.
We hope that you will enjoy your time at school but if there is anything about your course that you are not happy with, you should first talk to your teacher. If this is difficult for you, you are also welcome to talk to us confidentially in the school office. Junior students can also talk to their own group leaders about any problems.
We know that a happy student is much more successful than an unhappy student. If you are feeling sad or you need some help with something, please do talk to either your teacher or the welfare team in the school office, who will try to help.
We hope you will enjoy your time staying with your home stay provider. However, if there is something you are not happy about, please first of all talk to the accommodation team in the school office.
We don’t expect any of our students to catch public transport to school. If you are under 18, your home stay provider will help you get to school if you are not within a comfortable walking distance. Adults who are staying with one of our home stay providers are usually placed within walking distance from the school.
We have a maximum of 8 students per adult class and 12 per junior class.
Yes, all students receive a certificate and a progress report from their teacher at the end of a course.
